The Abington Heights Middle School Science Olympiad team competed in the northeast regional tournament at PSU Wilkes-Barre. The team placed second overall and medaled in 18 of the 23 events. Individual medal winners were as follows:
First place: rocks and minerals, Gavin Ross; thermodynamics, Paige Watt and Justin Williams; crime busters, Gavin Ross and Sarah Siddiqui; herpetology, Gavin Ross and Lydia Hodge; potions and poisons, Ryan Salony and Paige Watt; and roller coaster, Ryan Salony and Avery Orbin.
Second place: dynamic planet, Justin Williams and Chris Adonizio; optics, Michael Cummins and Rina Hanumali; and towers, Niko Williams and Justin Williams.
Third place: meteorology, Niko Williams and Hanna White; experimental design, Ryan Salony, Lydia Hodge and Paige Watt; third place ecology, Justin Williams and Hanna White; battery buggy, Ryan Salony and Lydia Hodge; write it do it, Michael Cummins and Lydia Hodge; and microbe mission, Michael Cummins and Chris Adonizio.
Fourth place: anatomy and physiology, Julia Bereznak and Sarah Siddiqui; mystery architecture, Rina Hanumali and Niko Williams; and disease detectives, Michael Cummins and Julia Bereznak.
