The Dalton Fire Co. ladies auxiliary will meet on Thursday, March 6, at 6 p.m., at the Dalton Fire Hall, 109 S. Turnpike Road. New members are welcome. Bingo will be held on Mondays, March 17 and 31, also at the Dalton Fire Hall. Doors open at 6 p.m. and games begin at 6:45 p.m.

Meeting Notice

The Mysteries and Detectives Book Club will meet on Tuesday, March 11, at 7 p.m. at the Abington Community Library, 1200 W. Grove St. The March selection is “Dog On It” by Spencer Quinn. The author for April will be John Mortimer.

Special Needs College Fair

Allied Services Integrated Health System will host a disability employment and college fair for students with special needs on Wednesday, March 12, in the community room at Allied Services, 475 Morgan Highway, Scranton. A morning session from 9-11 a.m. will be geared toward students and faculty members from area high schools while a second session addressing the concerns of parents of students with disabilities will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. According to organizers, the event will provide an opportunity for students with disabilities and their parents to meet with employers and admissions representatives from local colleges. Representatives from local agencies will also be on hand to share information on relevant transportation programs, Social Security benefits, vocational rehabilitation services and workplace accommodation technology.

The event is sponsored by the Lackawanna County Youth Council and Work Investment Board and will take place with the support of the Scranton School District and Northeastern Educational Intermediate Unit 19. Call 570-348-1407 to register or for more information.

Pizza Sale

Passover Demonstration

The Chinchilla United Methodist Church, 411 Layton Road, will host a demonstration entitled “Messiah in the Passover” on Sunday, March 16, beginning at 5 p.m. The demonstration will be conducted by Paul Cruz of Chosen People Ministries, who, organizers say, will explain the symbolic meanings of the various items of the Passover feast and highlight their relationship to the Last Supper, giving special emphasis on the redemptive significance of Jesus Christ’s crucifixion. History Luncheon

The Waverly Community House, 1115 N. Abington Road, will host its annual Women’s History Month luncheon on Friday, March 21, beginning at noon, at the Glen Oak Country Club, Oakford Road, Clarks Summit. This year’s luncheon is themed “Celebrating Women of Character, Courage and Commitment” and will feature guest speaker Elena Colombo, chief executive officer and creative director of Fire Features, a division of Colombo Construction. A cash bar reception will be held from noon to 12:30 p.m. Lunch is served at 12:30 p.m. and will include a choice of four entrées: sliced beef tenderloin salad, roasted free-range chicken, rigatoni pasta primavera or teriyaki glazed salmon. The special education department of Abington Heights School District will host a parent information session on Monday, March 17, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Abington Heights Administration Building, 200 E. French Lessons

The Waverly Community House, 1115 N. Abington Road, will offer French lessons with instructor Linda Pryal LeBlanc on Wednesday evenings in the CRB Room from March 19 through May 7. Beginner French I will be offered from 6-7 p.m. and Conversational French will be offered from 7-8:30 p.m. The fee for each eight-week session is $96, which will include materials. Coffee Club

Chuck Parry, of Edward Jones Investments, 406 S. State St., Clarks Summit, will host a free coffee club on Wednesday, March 19, beginning at 9 a.m., at the Glenburn Grill, 1144 Lackawanna Trail.
