CLARKS SUMMIT — The Gathering Place, 304 S. State St., released a call for artists for its “All Creatures Great & Small” exhibit, set for Sept. 28 through Nov. 21. The entry deadline is Friday, Sept. 14.
The Gathering Place features the work of established and emerging artists working and/or living in NEPA and is looking for high-quality, artistic and interpretive depictions of animals, in various medium including three-dimensional and jewelry, for this display.
All monthly exhibits are open to the public. Depending on space availability all pieces might not be in the main gallery. Work may be in any medium; must be original; framed and matted (if appropriate); and ready to hang (with wire), if to be wall-mounted.
Submissions will be judged on merit and relevance to the theme. Space considerations and number of submissions will also be considered.
FEES & COMMISSIONS
There is no entry fee, but if your work is selected there is a hanging fee of $20 for the first piece, and $5 for each additional piece selected. The Gathering Place will retain a 25 percent commission on the sale price. The artist is responsible for setting the price.
Email a digital image of your work, including one with the frame, to GatheringPlaceCS@gmail.com and include approximate size and weight. No more than three submissions per artist will be accepted. For this show the center is not accepting paintings larger than 3-foot-by-four-foot.
A reception will take place Friday, Sept. 28, from 6:30-8 p.m. All artists are expected to attend.
Exhibitors may be encouraged to volunteer at the gallery during the month of the exhibition. The Gathering Place is a busy community arts and education center with ongoing classes and events, which means constant exposure for the artwork. The public loves to meet the artists and no one can explain (and sell) the work better than the person who created it.
